W 3. kolejce CEV Ligi Mistrzyń ŁKS Commercecon Łódź zmierzył się na wyjeździe z Volero Le Cannet. Po pięciosetowym meczu dwa punkty powędrowały na konto gospodyń, zaś Łódzkie Wiewióry dopisały do swojego dorobku jedno „oczko”.
W pierwszym secie obie drużyny zaprezentowały falującą dyspozycję. Początek był udany dla Łódzkich Wiewiór, które wyszły na prowadzenie 5:1, ale równie szybko straciły całą przewagę. Skuteczne zagranie Kotikovej dało prowadzenie gospodyniom 10:6, jednak gdy Russu zaatakowała w aut przyjezdne traciły już tylko dwa punkty i o czas poprosił trener Volero Le Cannet. Świetnie na zagrywce zaprezentowała się Kamila Witkowska, do tego ŁKS Commercecon dołożył blok i zrobiło się po 18. W wyrównanej końcówce więcej zimnej krwi zachowały łodzianki i to one cieszyły się z wygranej 25:23.
W drugiej partii gospodynie szybko uzyskały kilkupunktowe prowadzenie (6:2, 10:7). Gdy Kochurina zaatakowała z obiegnięcia, było już 13:8 dla francuskiej drużyny. Łódzkie Wiewióry nie mogły w tym secie znaleźć recepty na grę rywalek. Po ataku Russu było już 23:16 dla Volero. Finalnie gospodynie triumfowały 25:18 i doprowadziły do remisu w meczu.
Trzecią odsłonę francuski team rozpoczął od prowadzenia 4:0 i szybko o czas poprosił trener Chiappini. Gdy Kotikova skończyła atak, gospodynie ponownie uzyskały trzy punkty przewagi (12:9). Przy stanie 14:12 sędzia odgwizdał łodziankom piłkę rzuconą, co spotkało się ze zdecydowanym sprzeciwem polskiego zespołu. Po ataku Lyashko było już 22:15 dla gospodyń, a po chwili asa dołożyła Lee. Francuski zespół wygrał tego seta 25:15.
W czwartym secie po akcji Kotikovej dał Volero przewagę 5:2, ale udany atak Julity Piaseckiej wyprowadził na prowadzenie 8:7 siatkarki z Łodzi. Gdy akcję skończyła Amanda, było 11:10 dla przyjezdnych. W drugiej części seta nie zabrakło kontrowersji, czujny był sztab ŁKS Commercecon, prosząc o wideoweryfikację. Po ataku Diouf Łódzkie Wiewióry zyskały przewagę 20:17, a autowa zagrywka Popovej dała im zwycięstwo 25:20.
Tie-break rozpoczął się po myśli gospodyń. Szybko wyszły na prowadzenie 7:2, Łódzkie Wiewióry próbowały jeszcze ratować sytuację. Po ataku Amandy było 10:6 dla Volero. Piłkę meczową dał francuskiej drużynie blok na Diouf, a finalnie ekipa z Le Cannet wygrała 15:7 i cały mecz 3:2. Tym sposobem drużyny podzieliły się punktami, dwa powędrowały na konto Volero, a jeden zainkasowały Łódzkie Wiewióry.

CEV Champions League Volley: ŁKS Commercecon Łódź returns from France with one point
In the 3rd round of the CEV Champions League, ŁKS Commercecon Łódź played away against Volero Le Cannet. After a five-set match, two points went to the home team, and Łódź Wiewióry added one point to their tally.
In the first set, both teams showed wavering form. The beginning was successful for the Squirrels, which took a 5-1 lead, but just as quickly lost the entire advantage. Kotikova’s effective play gave the home team the lead 10:6, but when Russu attacked wrong, the visitors were only two points behind and coach Volero Le Cannet asked for a time-out. Kamila Witkowska performed brilliantly on the serve, and ŁKS Commercecon added a block and the score was 18. In the evenly matched end, the ŁKS Commercecon Łódź players kept their cool and were happy to win 25:23.
In the second set, the home team quickly took a several-point lead (6:2, 10:7). When Kochurina made a running attack, it was already 13:8 for the French team. The Squirrels team couldn’t find a formula for their opponents’ play in this set. After Russu’s attack it was already 23:16 for Volero. Ultimately, the home team won 25:18.
The French team started the third set with a 4-0 lead and coach Chiappini quickly called for a timeout. When Kotikova finished the attack, the hosts again gained a three-point advantage (12:9). When the score was 14:12, the referee whistled the ball thrown to the Łódź team, which was met with strong opposition from the Polish team. After Lyashko’s attack it was already 22:15 for the home team, and after a while Lee added an ace. The French team won this set 25:15.
In the fourth set, Kotikova’s action gave Volero a 5:2 advantage, but Julita Piasecka’s successful attack gave the volleyball player from Łódź an 8:7 lead. When Amanda finished the action, it was 11:10 for the visitors. There was controversy in the second part of the set, as the ŁKS Commercecon staff was vigilant, asking for video verification. After Diouf’s attack, Łódź Wiewióry gained a 20:17 advantage, and Popova’s throw-in gave them a 25:20 victory.
The tie-break started as the hosts wanted. They quickly took the lead 7:2, ŁKS Commercecon Łódź tried to save the situation. After Amanda’s attack it was 10:6 for Volero. The match ball was given to the French team by a block on Diouf, and in the end the team from Le Cannet won 15:7 and the whole match 3:2. In this way, the teams shared the points, two went to Volero and one to ŁKS.
